How to Register A Domain Name from Domain Registrar
Are you struggling to register a domain name? A custom domain name is needed to start a new website or blog. A website is helpful for establishing a brand or business and to provide information, guidance, support, etc.
Whatever the need is, a custom domain is necessary to start a website; even you can start with subdomains with platforms like Blogger, WordPress. But having a custom domain is better to establish a website.
Today, I’m going to guide you on registering a domain for your blog or website. Domain names can be registered from domain registrars like GoDaddy, Namecheap, Bluehost, etc.
Before registering a domain name, first, you should decide on your domain name; you can read this article on how to choose a domain name.
After that, you have to select a domain registrar to purchase your domain name. As I said above, there are many registrars available for domain names, but all of them don’t offer better service and customer support.
Therefore, you need to spend some time finding out the best domain registrar so that you will not face any problems in the future. I’m going to list some common features you should look out for before selecting a domain registrar.
Free WHOIS Privacy Protection: This is to protect your identity from data stealers, hackers, and if you don’t want to reveal your information. Some domain registrars offer free WHOIS privacy while others don’t; they charge a fee. Personally, I faced this issue when I didn’t know about WHOIS privacy; I bought a domain from a registrar that doesn’t offer free WHOIS. The day after I purchased the domain, my mobile started getting unknown calls regarding several offers and promotions, and my registered email also kept on receiving emails. So never forget to check this WHOIS protection before purchasing.
Domain Lock: This domain lock or domain transfer lock is to protect your domain from unauthorized transfers. In simple words, with this feature, you can prevent the unknown transfer of your domain to other registrars. You can unlock your domain if you want to transfer your domain.
Domain Forwarding and Email Forwarding: Domain forwarding is a concept of forwarding one domain to another domain. This is also called 301 redirects; it is a permanent redirect, 302 redirect is temporary. In the future, if you want to change your domain address to another domain address, you can use this feature to redirect the existing domain to a new domain so that you won’t lose your readers. Email forwarding is also like domain forwarding; it helps you redirect your existing email to another email address.
Auto Renewals: Domain registrars allow you to register a domain for a certain period, such as 1 year, 2 years, etc. If the domain registrar doesn’t offer auto-renewals, there are chances of losing your domain. And some domain registrars don’t offer grace periods. So look for auto-renewals also.
Price: If you find the same features but price differences, you can go for a domain registrar that offers a low price.
Promotions: Some domain registrars offer domains at a low price for the first year, and they charge you double when you renew them. Don’t fall for promotions; go for a domain registrar that offers consistent pricing without high price hikes.
DNS Management: Some domain registrars don’t allow full authority over domain management, so that you may face any technical problems, so look for full DNS management.
